Jonathan started pursuing his dream of owning a landscaping business in 2017 when he launched Serenity Landscaping, LLC. After 10 years of experience working for other landscaping companies, he was eager to be his own boss. While both Jonathan and his wife Stephanie had full-time jobs at the time, they ran Serenity Outdoors as a side business on weeknights and weekends.
Over the next three years, the business grew steadily. By 2020, they faced a choice - keep Serenity part-time on weekends only and turn work away, or transition to running it full-time by leaving their stable banking job. In the spring of that year, they made Serenity their sole focus, realizing Jonathan's long-held goal.
In 2024, they rebranded as Serenity Outdoor Living to reflect their expanded services. Jonathan enjoys all aspects of landscaping, from complete new designs and renovations to building features like retaining walls, patios, fire pits and outdoor kitchens. He finds satisfaction in transforming yards into beautiful, serene spaces for clients to enjoy with family and friends.
Stephanie still assists the business while maintaining her full-time job, serving as the office manager.
The couple has lived in Kalamazoo, Michigan since 2014. They reside in Texas Township with their sons Caden and Carson, and dogs Leia, Ridley and Ahsoka. In their spare time, Jonathan and Stephanie enjoy hobbies like hunting, fishing, gardening, camping and brewing beer.
